An MOT is an annual test legally required for any vehicle over 3 years old from its date of registration. It thoroughly tests the engine and external parts of the vehicle.
However, many people are left wondering if their vehicle was to fail its MOT can you still drive it away from the garage. The law states each vehicle must have a valid MOT, without one your insurance is void and you will not be able to drive that vehicle on public roads. It’s also important to realise that a new MOT certificate replaces the old one, so if your vehicle fails you won’t be able to use it even if there is a month left on your previous certificate.
The only place you can legally drive a vehicle that has failed its MOT is from the MOT test station to the garage conducting repairs.
If you require any fail or advisory work to be done on your vehicle please feel free to contact us in Heanor at Best Tread Tyres on 01773 714919 or send us an email.
